nodus tollens
i always drink black coffee in the morning
but today i drank earl gray tea
it scorched my tongue
it slipped and slid down my throat
it felt right
and somehow i ended up
tonight the sun seemed to go down to early
it was four i think
i watched the sun melt behind a cotton candy sky
i was at peace but
i believe it should have been seven
and for some reason this made me
calling my mom this afternoon
it made me late to work
im feeling okay about it
im not rushed in the slightest
im never late to work
so now im ignoring the fact
drink earl gray tea in the morning

My inspiration for this story was the obscure sorrow Nodus Tollens, the idea that your life doesn’t make sense to you anymore because a small and simple routine changed, but then you realize all along, that life is a “Choose Your Own Adventure”.
