Ode to nature
O nature
How you wrap me in your warm embrace
I find myself getting lost in your warm seasoned grass
Breathing in your summery air filled with the scent of inflorescence.
O nature
You give me all the trees to climb
With your outstretched hand to help me to the top
You cool me with a refreshing breeze that makes me feel right at home.
O nature
But they take you for granted
They slash through you towering forests
They snatch up all your hard-earned foundation
Bulldoze through your vast, bright fields that hold me
O nature
If only they could see what I see in you
They wouldn’t have to rip you apart
Maybe they could learn to cherish your grace and beauty
O nature
For all of those who plunge daggers into your soul
Shred each bit of you for themselves
O nature this is for you.
