You

Meeting you seemed inevitable
But the worst kind of "meant to be"
You could never truly be mine
Time was fleeting enough for you
To be in the shadows of words
That are heard in the most absurd places
Your eyes cast a pale glow
On everything that I seem to gaze upon
The all too familiar mood of your wander
Frames this perfect figure of beauty
An artistry that is rare, so rare
That it is more inconceivable than a blue moon
Your slurred speech lures me into your trap
I want to be caught between the lines
And surrender myself to your wild mind
But just like that
Time present and time past
Is a single seamless piece of fabric
Unbroken, and unyielding
Like the tide
Even though it has a never-ending journey to the shoreline
It can never touch land
In some ways I still see you
And how I fracture into slivers
That can never be swept off the ground on which I stand
You materialize before me
Each night you dance ceaselessly through my dreams
My dreams, which consume every part of my aching body
That yearns to be ensnared in your thoughts
Thoughts that are alluring
Yet also frightening
How willing I am for this to all come pouring out
It was never meant to be this way
At least in my eyes was it never meant to be this way
So here we are
I would like to say "temporarily" apart
But we could never know
