Too Long

I walked up the bleachers, friends following behind me
And there you were

I called out your name,
Within seconds you turned around
A smile gleamed across your face

It had been so long since we had seen each other
And there you were, two feet away

You ran up the bleachers, and came to my side
Hugging me with full arms intertwined

Your hugs are unexplainable,
The love and joy they bring along

How you wrapped your arms around me,
And held me close

We talked for a little but then you left

Our team winning, as players pounded themselves into the dirt
Grabbing ahold of the ball, making a pass
And getting a goal

The wind picked up, so all of us covered in orange and blue huddled together, behind Orange Crew

You returned once more, noticed I was cold
Sat next to me for a while, keeping me warm

It had been so long, too long since I last saw you
But here you are next to me
Holding me, keeping me warm

Submerged by all orange and blue
As another goal for our team went through

And there we sat, your hand in mine
Smiling, talking, having a really good time

It had been too long, since we had last seen each other
But here you are next to me, holding me close, keeping me warm

Surrounded by hundreds of peers from the school
And then there's just us sitting, the comfort of yourself so close to me

You looked at me with assurance, this wouldn't be the last time I would see you
For never again would we have to wait too long to see each other once more
