Where I'm From
I am from toaster waffles and bagels on Saturdays.
I am from the small kitchen, tan bricks, screen doors,
They always creaked.
I am from the flowers in the front yard, the damaged ones taken inside
that always gave me a runny nose.
I’m from the summer barbecues and Mom and Dad and Marissa.
I’m from the always out on Saturday and
sleeping late on Sunday.
I am from family first and speak up.
I’m from small Christmas’ and smaller Passovers.
I’m from small apartments, boxed pasta and grilled cheese,
From the Christmas breakfast , the day trips.
I’m from the cabinet in the living room with pictures of everyone.
I am from love no matter what.
