The air is so heavy
        as it drifts between us
Our silence
       mingling with one another
Harmonious
The words are there
        but—
They are stuck on the roofs of our mouths
Itching their way to our lips
        but—
We seal them shut
        trapping them
Like winged birds in a cage
         aching to be set free.
