slaves
They work
Days and nights
Years and years
For abuse and neglect
Agony and torture
For people they despise
For people who “own” them
They fight to be independent
To be with family again
They are trapped
With no faith at all
They are poor youth
Who live with poor surroundings
They don’t get paid
They scarcely get fed
Before the 1600’s to now
They still work
Days and nights
Years and years
They are child slaves

I was inspired to write this poem because we wrote a big essay on protest in class, I chose slavery to protest and the peom just came to mind. I hope to get across to people that slavery is still around in certain countries, and that we still need to fight and protest against it.
