Flames

December 1, 2017
By Anonymous

The sun beats down
On the dry cracking soil
As the thermometer rises.
A dry branch
Is ignited by the prism of mirrors
In a toy kaleidoscope
Left behind by a child
On a large stone.
The flames quickly grow
Sending flares outward
In long streaks.
Inferno clusters of cinders
Shoot every which way
Like rockets,
Illuminating the fish pond
As the dried grass
Turns to ash.
