What Society Makes of Us
Swimming through an ocean of opportunity
To the blank unity of the house of high school
A ramp from the unique to one of the crowd
A medal for fitting in with the cowed
A piece on the piano with only one dynamic marking
And only one note
Such is the uniformity concocted by rote
From vibrant individuals
To a pale shadow of conformism
Stand out
Be different
Take a chance
Everyone has their own talents
Use yours

I was inspired to write this piece by my experience going from a freeform and individualistic accelerated charter school in middle school to normal conformist high school.
