Stars
As each star is born,
It is born alone.
Alone, yet among millions.
It spends its whole life,
Trying to find those that make them complete.
Though most do not prevail,
Some lucky few succeed.
They dance and dance with happiness,
Till morning comes to end their fun,
And they drift off into sleep.
Their sleep can last forever,
And together they are constellations,
And we name them for their dances,
Their dances of animals and people,
Their dances of things.
Their dances are who they are,
And what they love.
The millions of years before,
Are what make the dancing so valuable.
So, when looking at the stars,
Remember what they have done,
What they have been through.
Know that what you are looking at,
Is the sleep of someone who found their way.

This poem was inspired by the notion that every person has a place they belong, and we will find that place, even if it takes a long time.
