It was a side at first, then love at first sight
And I did love it to the depth and breadth and height
Of my unending hunger and my infinite appetite
So my pockets emptied and my clothes got tight
But I loved and cared only for it

Then came a day I’m sure like no other
I called for my love, my stomach all knurly
And then the lady asked me something strange
“Do you want regular, waffle, or curly?”
And that was the greatest day of my life

There’s a world of different dishes
Foods from the high skies and foods from the sea
But as many fancy dishes as you may present
None will ever be able to compete
With the magnificence known as potato

There’s cooked and there’s baked and there’s fried
There’s diced and scalloped and sliced
So many ways to make potatoes
There’s plain and seasoned and spiced
And I love each and every one of them

If I could I would write poems for potatoes
I would write epics in its honor and sing songs in its name
And I would declare my love to the whole world
And I'm sure the world would do the same
But alas I am but a simple man that's been blessed with potatoes
