Seaglass
With these eyes I see a shattered piece.
I see something dragged upon this dingy shore,
polluting something with an abundance of potential.
I don’t expect anyone to reach out to it;
it is unapproachable.
if someone dares to lift it up,
who knows what might happen-
it's rough around the edges.
I know it has been through tossing times,
but no one has seen the hardships
that caused its current state.
With these eyes I see a shattered piece,
a broken bottle in the sand;
but with your eyes you see seaglass
and if I saw that too,
I could live a different life.

I hope that from this readers can relate to the message of this piece which has to do a lot with insecurities. The message is first about what others might see in someone, but the end is about what really matters, which is what you see in yourself.
