Keep calm for this too will pass

 I can still see her.

Laughing through the tears-
Chasing away her fears-
Courageously.

I still imagine her here.
Sidekicks forever-
Like it was when we were together-
Happily.

I wish I could take her pain.
She began to slow-
I was left to grow-
Lonely.

I haven’t seen her in about a year.
Funny how she still crosses my mind-
I just wish I could find-
A way to bring her home.

I hear about the worst of it.
She can’t find the answer-
As to why she can’t find laughter-
Strength of a wounded fighter-
Deteriorating.

I then had a dream.
She stood there gracefully-
Then disappeared painlessly-
I was helpless.

I’m almost out of words.
There’s no more I can say.
She’s the only one to get it.
I wish she could see me today.
I wish she could hear me call her name…
Evelyn.

The author's comments:

A little over a year ago, a friend of mine from over ten years ago moved away.  Close enough that I could drive to her house in half an hour, but I haven't.  In fact, I haven't seen her since the last day of sixth grade.  And the explanation has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that "I don't have time" and "Well, she's never home."  No; this is merely because Evelyn's home is not a place where anyone honestly wants to be.  To explain her situation would not only be a disloyalty to her and our friendship, but I believe that if she wanted people to know, she would let people know.  So, my job as an author is to express my thoughts and feelings and stories not only for the good of myself, but to share a contemporary and interpretive world with you, the reader.  I genuinely hope that you enjoy this poem of mine, and please share your interpretation of the poem with me.

"Be good to people. And don't forget that you are people, too"

I really felt a sense of yearning for something that misplaced. I read your comment about the poem, I didn't get the message about Evelyn moving. That could be both good or bad depending on if you were trying to leave a philosophical prompt for the readers imagination, or if you were trying to tell the actually story of her absence. I love how you drawl from real experience, it brings genuine emotion to the piece. Overall I enjoyed it. (P.S. Content is great, work on the flow).
