Once upon a time,
A boy lived in a small village.
The village was surrounded by
Tall grass, thick trees, and gigantic mountains.

Everyday, a red, ferocious-looking dragon
Would fly over the village.
The villagers stood in fear of the scary dragon
Living in the mountains, and in awe of it’s beauty.

No one ever tried to track down the dragon,
Until one day when the boy
Wanted to go have an adventure
And talk to the dragon in the mountains.

He climbed and hiked the mountain for hours,
Eating berries along the way.
Eventually, he found the cave of the dragon.
It was sleeping peacefully, not making a sound.

Little spouts of fire came out of his nose with every exhale,
But the child was not afraid.
He pet the dragon on his smooth nose, right above its nose.
Then, the dragon’s eyes shot up.

The boy stepped back and fell on his rump.
He thought that the dragon would be angry and prepared to leave,
But the dragon simply turned around to go further into the cave.
When the boy didn’t follow, the dragon stopped, looked back at him, and waited for him to come.

The dragon took him to a wall within the depths of the cave,
Right next to a lake of crystal clear water.
The wall had a picture not-so-neatly scratched onto it;
However, the boy got the jist of it.

The picture showed four dragons, surrounded by humans with spears and shields.
They cowered in fear as the humans seemed to be charging at them:
Laughing and shouting with joy
That they will live.
The dragon looked at the boy with hopeless, defeated eyes.
It cried; the boy gave it a hug.

The dragon let the boy get up on his back.
He gripped its horns as they soared through the sky.
The dragon landed quite a bit away from the village.
The boy quickly got off as he heard the approaching villagers’ roars: “Kill it! Kill it!”

The boy gave its nose a hug.
It quickly flew
Back to its home
In the mountains.
