Where I'm From
I’m from a time of antisocialness —
feelings of nervousness, tension, and anxiety surrounded me.
I didn’t know where to begin . . .
I’m from the Mid-West and unpredictable weather —
thunderstorms, tornadoes and snowstorms.
A part of my heart lives in St. Louis . . .
I’m from a loss with words during the midst of my childhood —
six years passed, like an angry storm, not saying our goodbyes.
A whirlwind, what was happening . . .
I’m from a new beginning, where life started over in Hartland —
making friends escalated like a slam dunk.
Transitions from north to south was rubbish, what’s next for me . . .
I’m from middle school confusion, where friendships and life were complicated —
puzzling, frustrating and avoidance describes my experience..
Getting picked on . . . learning to ignore . . . standing up for myself was a must . . .
I’m from rumours, gossip, and immaturity, where school didn’t feel safe —
friend after friend blurting, “Is this true?” or “Tell me more!”
A time of hopelessness and frustration taking over, this must stop . . .
I’m from gaining confidence with nine months until graduating Arrowhead High School —
my excitement arises looking forward to what the future holds.
Mature, motivated and determined . . . the person who I have become.
