The Source of Lonely
Why have you left?
Why are you gone?
Is it because you were never there at all?
I tried to hold on.
I tried to stay strong.
But with no one next to me,
Everything felt wrong.
Giving, giving, giving.
That’s all I ever do.
But guess what, wouldn’t you know,
I’m through.
Hearts weren’t meant to be lonely.
Souls weren’t meant to be ice.
Love will warm the lowly
But only when you’re nice.
Rain falls on dry branches.
Sun drinks up the damp.
You were the sun and I was the branches.
Now you’re a broken lamp.
It’s not your fault.
It’s not mine either.
We’re alone in solidarity
Together
I invite you.
You don’t invite me.
But why would you have the cause?
Even I can see
You have no need to pause
And think of me
The bird lifted wings from far away.
Invisible, afraid.
Why have you left?
Because I was never there at all.
