A joyous heart in the middle of the night

I'm scared!

Wandering blindly in sight

I'm starving and paranoid

Who cares!

Passed by like the flash of light

Promising wind, solitude, companionship

Seeking a quiet place

I had no idea where I was headed to

I was like a fish without water

No memories of living in freedom

Life without any future

not because I wanted to

because I didn't have another option

I had eyes to see but I couldn't see anything

Mouth to talk but I couldn't utter a word to my dearest

Ears to hear but it was difficult to listen

Something inevitable in my life

Looking at myself in the mirror

Reflection of PEACE!

The author's comments:

I am a refugee from the Democratic of Congo. I have lived in America for 18 months. Before coming to America my people were abused and losing their families. This came from a decrease in peace in my country. NHow I am in a peaceful country and I understand what peace is.
