They Did Not See
They did not see the sky when they died,
but their eyes were open.
death tasted like their own blood,
a splash of salty tears,
liquid fire.
their black eyes were unresponsive,
but screamed the words their mouths could not.
a dash of moans,
a twitch for good measure,
bodies line the streets.
They did not see the sky when they died,
but their eyes still seek out a heaven.
Can you feel them looking now?
