fighting for breath
seized with
a subconscious wish
a strange happiness
that flutters
in the shadows
Look at us
seeking ecstasy’s memory like
madmen
and yet...
what?
Everything settles into place
no sign of distress
floating
every day

This started as a found poem using phrases from The Chocolate War. However, through editing, it became something new altogether.
