Behind Her Eyes
She stands afraid and shy.
Her eyes trace the blurry white air - she gives out a sigh.
Uncertain of the future and what would pass on by
With one foot in front of the other,
She glides holding hands with her mother.
She blinks her eyes.
Through the plain, bleached halls she stays
As her tired eyes linger away.
Her mouth is glued shut. She has nothing to say.
Almost to the door she freezes-
Hearing coughs and wheezes.
She closes her eyes.
“Be strong.”
Her mother’s words flood her head like a never ending song.
Her voice fades in the whiteness “its ok, this won’t last long.”
Now alone, her heart beats at high rate
Entering the doors, she knows she’s too late.
She hides behind her eyes.

This poem can be interpretated into many conceptions, but I based it on the memory of hospital when I was six. With the many sights, sounds, and odors that accompany a hospital, memories of the situation are the result.
