Losing My Eyesight
The enchanting changes of the street lights,
The brightest stars in the darkest nights,
Flamboyant red roses on my old front lawn,
The energetic sky when I’d wake up at dawn.
The beautiful people everywhere,
The grace in long brunette hair,
Orange and yellow butterflies in the spring,
The sparkle in my grandmother’s wedding ring.
The clean, white snow covering the rooftops,
The inspiring art graffiti’d on the sidewalks.
The rainbow that shows herself after rain stops,
The charming purple candles sold in the gift shops.
The clear water oceans that shimmer in the sun,
My mother’s tender smile when she's having some fun,
The flocks of birds flying through the bluest skies,
My father’s compassionate hazel eyes.
The vibrant greens of the leaves on my willow tree,
And the alluring stripes on the backs of honeybees,
The purest sunsets during winter’s frost.
I didn’t love it until my eyesight was lost.
