Will we be free?
Why can’t I wear an oversized t-shirt with undone hair?
Why do you want me to cover myself with fear?
Why can’t a ‘man’ see the real me?
Why can’t I be free?
I remember the stories about goddesses,
Where no prince was there, yet they are divine
But, you made me fascinate fairytales
Wherein we pray to be saved
Why can’t I be free on my own?
I could walk bare,
But men, you don’t have any right over me
Why shouldn’t I scream while you misbehave?
Why should I feel guilty for breathing?
Why don’t you start behaving?
Why can’t I be free?
Dear powerful men,
Yes, I know you care about us,
Why do you want to carry us where we can’t walk?
Why do you want to hold me?
So I can’t be free?
Why do you make us so miserable?
Why do you want to weaken me while I try to strengthen myself?
This is not how equality works.
Women, at least stand for yourself
Because I am a woman of the Indian society,
Who’s not yet free.

As a woman of the Indian society, I sometimes have lived in fears. I question the society for not giving us(women) enough freedom because today inspite of the freedom, we still live in fear.
