NOW I AM FREE
NOW I AM FREE?
"I know Why the Caged Bird Sings"
I know some reason could be family is toxic
OR
Peers pressuring to do drugs.
I know the caged bird tries to escape
The fate set before it but can't
Its wings stay close to protect from harm
"I know why the caged bird sings"
I was a caged bird that had no voice
The song I sang was choked by a tight grip
The force was so great it might break me in two like a twig
But it loosened up enough not to break me
Still my song was silent like a cold winter night
"I know why the caged bird sings"
I was a caged bird that could not fly
I was trapped in a shell of myself
I was looking out on the world from within myself
I could only watch as my life feel into despair
It was painful from all the abuse
I was all alone
"I know why the caged bird sings"
I was once a caged bird before
but now I am FREE
I chose to be FREE
I will stay FREE
I will stand tall and sturdy like a an oak tree
I will NOT be a caged bird again
NOW MY VOICE WILL BE HEARD

Hi my name is Kaitlyn. I am 18 and a senior in High School. I have hight funtioning Autisum. I am an advocator for Autisum and other Mental Health needs. That means that I look and act like everyone else, but I have my few quirks that set me apart. What ispired me to write this was my sophmore year. I was in a very abusive relationship were I felt like nothing. But I got out of that and I now and hoping to inspire others to leave and never turn back. Abuse has to stop and the only way that will happen is if we stand together and stay strong through it all.
