Tranquil Tides
Waves wash weakly onto the shore,
The smell of salty air drifts upward tickling my nostrils.
Peace envelops my spirit like a warm blanket on a cold night.
Summer has arrived.
The pressures of life just a memory,
disappearing in the glare of the sun.
Awakened by the light breaking darkness,
No more sudden sound to startle my slumber.
The warm breeze blows away all concerns,
My muscles can finally untighten their hold,
And my feet smile as they slowly stroll,
gently massaged by the warm sand below.
Days fly like hours and I can’t slow their speed,
A sand crab disappears with the receding tide,
The sun sets dressed in royal colors to announce its descent,
Summer has gone.

As the weather gets colder and with midterms coming up I'm longing for the warm, stress free days of summer.
