Not everyone has there mom but I'm thankful I have mine
Even if I'm not home right now I'll be back in no time
I know we only have four hours together and only on sundays
Maybe if we keep our fingers crossed I'll just come home someday
I remember going to the hospital and holding your cold hand
Looking at you with wires connected to you and your wrist with a red band
What he did wasn't right but at least our pain is now done
He left you with three daughters and a new son
I know you want the best for your kids but you dont have to worry about me
Ive seen and done things already and now have to let be
Being out late on the streets, picking me up from police stations
All the dumb cases I created, now we go to court every month and you still got patience
You're the only one to understand me and believe me in what I say
I'm sorry for when you got all of us taken from you, remember like it was yesterday
You always told me to ride for family but now all you have left is your kid
I would've got locked up that day thats why I ran and hid
Don't listen to what the court says your still my mom
Believe it or not your the only one to get me calm
I'm sorry I was a handful at times and never went to school
I promise when im back home I'll stay home and listen to the rules
No more calls saying I'm locked up or having the police come to the house asking for me
You guys knew I had to do me, to let me be
I didn't want you to see me get arrested at the house
Standing in front of the judge crying but still quiet as a mouse
We have our own history be we share it with each other
Im proud to say I got you and to call you my mother
Your caring and tell the truth, you speak for what you want even at 4"11 ft tall
Im fine with only having a mom doesn't bother me at all
You're my mom and I'm your oldest daughter
Don't mind that I grew up with no father
Just want the same for you as you want for me
No more having to see things we didnt wanna see
We have a good bond that no one could break apart
I love you mom with all my heart
Keep all my memories of us good or bad
Cause you gave me the best family I could ever had

I needed a way to tell my story about what was going on. My teacher was teaching us about poems and we had to make up our own. I put some things in that have happened, that I still think about and turn it into my homework and a piece of art. It's a tribute poem about my mom.
