As She Walked The Halls
She walked the halls, arms out in welcome to everyone,
Her steps a nice even flow, a confident stride.
She knew who she was and who she wanted to be.
They never matched up.
Why would they when she had much to go through.
She heard what was said in the halls,
Like knives deliberately jabbed, stabbed into her back,
Were the words of hate and judgement.
As she thought, her body got tighter, her body closed up,
Arms no longer free,
Arms attached across her stomach,
Arms still,
Sewn in place by her thoughts.
