Threads of November
The cold rips through you, unsuspecting
A world of colors, unrelenting
And there you stand, hand in hand
with the girl you always loved
I see you there, across the street
A numbness running through my feet
My hands wrapped around the wily, wayward
Threads of the jacket you gave me
Once upon a time
Remember last November?
It was a year ago, I know,
But do you remember the way you held me?
Do you remember the words you whispered?
You said “I love you”
And I believed it
A fleeting moment, you don't recall
But it happened in the fall.
Convenient now that you're with her
And I'm left with the threads of your jacket
But you'll never ask for it back.

This was inspired by a past relationship of mine, where I was stuck in the intermediary stage of trying to forget and still having feelings, and I was hurt but my ex wasn't, and was moving on
