A Cat and A Dog
There was once a dog and a cat,
Very unalike.
In a park--was where they were at.
Dogs stayed with dogs,
And cats stayed with cats.
A young mutt strayed from his pack,
walking towards a white feline,
She helped and ran from the cats.
The dog followed her playfully,
But she thought he was going to attack.
She ran and tried to hide,
Until she was out of breath.
A tree-- she was behind,
And the clueless mutt advanced,
The frightened cat thought she was going to die.
The pup didn't mind,
That it was unacceptable,
To play with those
Outside his own kind,
And the realization never showed.
The kitten believed,
From birth her parents told her,
That dogs would deceive,
And hurt any cat
That did not agree.
A division remains,
In our world today,
It affects with whom we friend,
And who our associates are,
And that makes us humans inhumane.
We are social,
And different in our own way,
The only way to make peace among everyone,
Is to throw old beliefs away.
