When times were easy...
I remember being able to come home,
And the only thing on my mind,
Was getting to play outside.
Children screaming and shouting.
Staying out until the sun set,
Seeing the cotton candy sky.
Children playing in the grass,
The grass tickling their skin.
There was no better feeling.
School was not a stress.
Life was not a stress.
College was not even a thought in our heads.
The world did not seem like it was spinning right at our feet.
There were no fake friends,
No boyfriends, no girlfriends.
No one to hurt you.
Just the real ones.
The friends where you genuinely enjoyed their presence,
And they felt the same towards you.
I remember everything was simple,
And the world did not seem so complicated.
The only pain you felt was when you cut and scraped your knee.
Your medicine was a lollipop,
Delicious, juicy swirls of cherry and vanilla.
Taking your mind off the pain you felt,
Just to go back and play.
Times were simple,
Growing up makes me want to be a kid again.
