The Grip
We searched through universes, and only found the dust
of stars that had left their presence empty.
Humanity pined away for something tangible to grip
as our minds and our souls were sent
flying across mountains and oceans and deserts
soon we found a dreary substitute
  and we were taught
that Wonder is less than sight
  and magic is only ignorance.
Something was lost, and I look for it inside
  every passing minute.
But a shadow follows me, it has no face
  “what if?” It whispers quietly.
