Sleep

  Sleep,
How I long for the escape and peace.
How I long for a place where your words cannot touch me!
  I can become a bird,
  And fly far away,
  Or an actor,
  Proud and blessed with fame.
  I can jump over mountains,
  Lift up buses,
  Resurrect broken fountains,
  Literally,
  anything while I’m sleeping.
  Sleep,
How I long for the escape and peace.
How I long for a place where your words cannot touch me!
I can run faster than any man,
  Far from you.
I can dream that I am indestructible
And that your words and actions cannot hurt me,
I can dream that I am safe,
Or that a prince has finally come to save me from your tower of terror.
I can dream that you are the wicked witch,
And you’ve finally decided to take a bath
And washed yourself down the drain.
  Sleep,
How I long for the escape and peace.
How I long for a place where your words cannot touch me!
