Response
Stars fell from the galaxy
down her cheeks
and onto my hands.
Holding her flushed face
I kissed her
again and again
and again
until water stopped rolling
and soft pink curved up.
I pulled her into me
until there was no space between us
and every atom in our bodies
connected.
I held her
tighter and tighter
and tighter
until I squeezed the words out of her
"I love you, too."
