The Leaves are Falling Again
The leaves are falling,
as the month’s drag by.
It reminds me of the winter, when
we became close.
The ground was chilled,
the sky was painted dark and gray.
As we sat there, silent in the park, I could feel the winter chills
crawl across my skin.
We sat on the old, dusty benches that have been placed in the woods for years.
The trees fenced us in,
as if we were in our own separate world.
We were shivering and shaking,
our words covered in frost.
Your cheeks were pinched a rosy red color, but your hands remained your hands, always so warm and comforting.
We were like the beautiful sunset, before the wicked storm.
Your words were eternal
Our days were not numbered
The winter turned to spring as we budded like flowers
I was unaware of the emptiness growing
as the months dragged by.
There was a hole between us.
Getting deeper and deeper
Hard times passed by
Your warm, comforting words
turned to ice.
Freezing and cold,
they ran through my head over and over.
The moment I know we both won’t forget
The moment that changed us forever
You left out of nowhere
just gone, forever.
I wanted you to know
as I sit here alone
at the old dusty benches in the park
I watch as the leaves start to fall.
I’m consumed with thoughts of you.
But I know It’s all over now.
