Thrown in your locker
Are the dreams and possibilities
Beyond the abyss I can’t see
Close the door on the realm of sleep,
Open it up to see, just what the student is feeling

Thrown in your locker
Is a backpack with one strap, you’re packing
Lunch,
because the food you bring determines where you are in the lunch social hierarchy,

Thrown in your locker
Is the homework you lost,
The books you tossed,
That bad grade you got on a test,
That dumb letter I got from an ex,
crumpled along with your dreams
Thrown in your locker,
Are lost “I love You’s”
Smiles...promises that would never come true,
And something that smells like the bottom of your shoe

Thrown in your locker
Is me,
A push, scared of the bully,
Damn, loud slam,
I hit the floor,
Laugh
And hide
And don’t cry,
Now thrown in your locker is my pride…

Thrown in your locker
The contract we never signed
To spend 13 years of our lives,
2,340 days, of
Sitting, Silence
Torture,
But do not fret, kids, soon
it will be over,

Thrown in your locker
Until that day comes
Future, happiness, heartbreak,
failure, success and the past...,
Oh, and that essay for English class,
And thrown in your locker,
One day you will see,
Was everything you needed to succeed
