When I Hear The Word Poetry...

When I hear the word poetry,
I want to lay down and cry in a ball.
My face gets red and tears start to fill my eyes.
I then tense up and become silent,
I grit my teeth as I feel my face get warm.
Poetry makes me hate ELA.
I don't know why anyone would have the desire to be a poet,
and write poems for a living.
A weird face,
and saying “eww,”
is how I feel about poetry.
I have never liked it.
But, why do we even need emotion?

The author's comments:

I was inspired to write this piece by my hate of poetry. I had almost cried many times in class because I wasn't able to write a decent poem.
