“I Never Liked You: A Response to ‘A Father Just Like You’, Author Anonymou
I know exactly how you feel about me.
You don’t love me.
You just put a “Look, I care!” mask on,
And throw money in my face, hoping I’m distracted.
You know what’s funny?
We would have never met
If it weren’t for your jealously;
If it weren’t for your pride.
I want to let you know
That everything you’ve done
Has taken a hidden toll on me.
You’ve created a fear in me;
An unshakeable fear.
A fear that evolved into seething anger.
Tears burning in my eyes every time you threw labels on me
And forced your family to believe that they were true.
Tears refusing to escape;
Refusing to let you see my pain.
Whether you know it or not,
Your words have left a scarring imprint;
A deep wound that cannot be healed.
All the lies and the hate
Have morphed me into what I am today.
For that, I want to let you know
How disgusted I am to be called your daughter.

This poem is pointed towards my biological father. It is exactly everything I have felt for years.
