Summer Games
Summertime is here
A child’s dream to playing all day
Staying up late
Waking up late
Not worrying about school at all
But not if you play softball
A game where the ball is not soft
A game where parents are enemies
A game, where you come from really matters
But to me it’s a game where batting and catching the ball is fun
“Honey get low and swing hard”
“C’mon watch the ball”
“Girls call for it”
“Make better throws I know you can”
Hearing these words make softball not fun anymore
Coaches yelling over and over
Are you serious you didn’t see that
Making us feel like the game really matters
I’m not playing to complete
I’m playing just to hit the ball and have fun
