Picture Perfect
Man why you keep messin’ with me?
You keep testin’ me.
You need to get on somewhere.
Why don’t they see me like I see me?
Pretty, funny, don’t put up with no one’s s***.
I may not look like the other girls,
but it don’t mean i’m not worth gettin’ to know.
There’s more to me than just my body:
my curves,
my big butt.
When I sit I have rolls
and when I stand I have rolls.
I poke at ‘em sometimes.
Constantly wishin’ they’d go away.
All ‘cuz of my rolls, I can’t wear a bikini, or cute clothes.
“Girl you ain’t fat you thick.” people tell me.
“Girl thick is cute.” people tell me?
Oh--REALLY?
If thick is so damn cute
Why do all the boys choose the skinny girls?
Why do people make fun of me because “I don’t look like ‘em.”?
I try not to eat, but that makes me want more food.
More food, more fat.
I buy the most expensive makeup
Because it’s supposed to make me “pretty.”
How about you shut the hell up.
Quit tellin’ me how to look
and quit tellin’ me how to live.
I will look however the hell I want to
And do whatever the hell i want to.
And if you don’t like it,
Piss off.

this poem is based off a picture of a girl trying to cut off her "rolls" with a pair of scissors while looking at a picture of a model. I had to write a narrative poem for creative writing and i was looking at inspirational photos on google and saw this one. Growing up I have always had insecurities about my body and the picture spoke to me
