The Man In Me
You bring out the man in me.
The gentle finger that wipes away tears.
The supportive shoulder that never stays dry.
Patience that wins the battle against time.
Everytime I see you I remember the promises that I’ve made,
that no matter how unrealistic they are, I am going to keep them until, and after I die.
You give me the strength to do things the right way, even if it’s not the easiest.
For you I would give up life itself, but I know you wouldn’t want that,
so instead I am going to live for you.
Maybe. Maybe.
For you.
You bring out the softer, kinder side of me.
The half that will hopefully someday become a whole.
I hope that someday when I think of your embrace it will not be a distant longing,
but the life that I live.
Right now I am too young to be in a serious relationship.
I am still changing, and becoming the person I will one day be,
so I will endure the pain of loneliness until I come of age.
