You bring out the man in me.
The gentle finger that wipes away tears.
The supportive shoulder that never stays dry.
Patience that wins the battle against time.
Everytime I see you I remember the promises that I’ve made,
that no matter how unrealistic they are, I am going to keep them until, and after I die.
You give me the strength to do things the right way, even if it’s not the easiest.
For you I would give up life itself, but I know you wouldn’t want that,
so instead I am going to live for you.
Maybe. Maybe.

For you.

You bring out the softer, kinder side of me.
The half that will hopefully someday become a whole.
I hope that someday when I think of your embrace it will not be a distant longing,
but the life that I live.
Right now I am too young to be in a serious relationship.
I am still changing, and becoming the person I will one day be,
so I will endure the pain of loneliness until I come of age.

“When I was a child, I used to speak as a child, to think as a child, to reason as a child; but now that I have become a man, I have done away with the traits of a child.”
You bring out the man in me.
What little of it there is…
