A Day Not So Far From Now
There will be a day when I wake up
and won’t be afraid of the weekday
There will be a day when I will walk
the streets and don’t avoid the entrance way
There will be a day when I can
visit the parkway
There will be a day when I will hold
doors open for strangers and won’t rush away
There will be a day when I look up
and the sky won’t be grey
There will be a day when I take
all my negative thoughts and whittle them away
There will be a day when I don’t look
at my life and see everything that is disarray
There will be a day when I won’t have
to go and hideaway
There will be a day when I will
celebrate my birthday
There will be a day when I don’t
dread the school day
