Another Dream
  Shattered porcelain heart
Struck by not fire, but ice
  Let my tears
  Cleanse the splinters of
  A broken-down soul
Why do you must carry all the light
With you when you slam the door
Now it’s too dark to see my
  Own mirror reflection
  Waking up from the dream
  In another world
Heart yet unbroken, soul not ripped
Tears not yet salty, or bitter
Fire still burning, blinds still open
You are more than a faded picture
Or a metaphor lying in my poems.
  Startled by the nightmare
  Harbinger of impending catastrophe
Fallen out of and into reality
  Again
  Felt for myself, only grasped
  Onto empty shell, groping
  For the beacon
  Burnt out Polaris, unbreakable shackles
Of memories lock me on the spot
  From staggering towards the
  Luminescent streetlamp
  Remembering the sweet memory
When losing you was still only
  A bad dream.
