the vengeful storm
June 30, 2016
one two three claps of thunder. my mom grabs our bike helmets and drags me out of bed at 3am. we hide in the basement as the emergency transmitter radio updates our weather conditions. the rain pounds against the side of the house and the power snaps off. streaks of lightning dance across the yard and my mom snarls at me to step back from the window. rain pounds harder and my mom yells louder and i resist stronger until i disappear into obsidian darkness and the wondrous abyss of the storm as the window shards hit my face and my body turns limp.
