Don't Forget
Vertically challenged
Big boned
Hyena cackle
Forever alone
Muffin top, four eyes
Brace face
Nerdy, geeky
Basket case
Too much makeup
Not enough
Hair too long
Arms too buff
Love handles, acne
Thunder thighs
Endless insults
Endless lies
I am short
This is true
I don’t wear makeup
My eyes aren’t blue
My hands are small
Fingernails not long
Outgoing introvert
I think I’m strong
But my best friend
She is blonde
She’s tall, she’s thin
Like a graceful fawn
From eyeliner to mascara
Beauty products are a must
She’s vocal, opinionated
And rather wanderlust
We are different
That’s a fact
But our friendship
This does not impact
Physical traits
Fuel the insecure
But of your beauty
Don’t be unsure
If you wear glasses
If your hair is flat
If you have big eyes
Be proud of that
Your value isn’t
The way you look
It’s what you love
It’s your favorite book
Beauty isn’t
in your face or fashion
It’s the gleam in your eyes
When you speak of your passion
It’s not in the curves
of a little extra skin
It’s your dreams, your thoughts
And all else within
Vertically challenged
Big boned
Hyena cackle
Forever alone
Muffin top, four eyes
Brace face
Nerdy, geeky
Basket case
You are different
But don’t be upset
You are beautiful
Don’t forget

I wrote this for an english class when given the topic of celebrating diversity in poetry. Our differences should be something to smile about and we should love the vast diversity the world has to offer.
