Behind her smile
She had bright smile then
The ones that radiated from within and reached beyond
It was in the purest form possible
When she smiled her lips pursed together
One end waved up and one slipped down
As if she balanced the dark and light
The black and white so gracefully upon herself
As if she led the most beautiful symphony
Of dream and reality
Yet beneath it all
She was an intangible contradiction
Constantly needing to battle herself
Fighting for inner peace and truthful existence
Her smile hardened into sorrows that reflected on her eyes
And was washed away by her own tears
She rarely smiles now
In attempt to disappear and hide the despair
But when you look
Really stare into her eyes
You will see her soften
And find her lost younger self
Dying to escape

I was writing about myself, but decided to describe "her" in third person, to inmitate Nick's writing about Daisy's smile in the Great Gastby. Of course, I took my own spin on it, telling a completely different story.
