Why do we care?

Thirty years from now,
when we have all had kids
and our parents have left us behind
we will have nothing in common with the next generation
just like our parents, we have been made blind

There is no way for us to know how it will change
Or the technologies to come
With the hoverboards and self driving cars that are strange
And internet implanted in our brains
We will have nothing of how we have been left

Sometimes I look back
Even though I know that I am young
And see how fast my life has gone
With all the bad days and pain
And how much more I have to come

Other times I look at how long I have to be here
Still watching the clock
And dreading every hour to pass us by
With the ticking of the clock and
The beat of our hearts
As the monotony of time goes on

The future is unimportant
And so is the past
As the only thing that matters is now

People too often lose themselves
In this manmade way of understanding the universe
That has never and will never matter

We change the way we live
Around this idea
As if it were a living being

And sometimes,

It makes me want to scream.

This poem was inspired by a rant that I heard from my friend about the nothingness of time. Have Fun!!!
