The Effects of Social Media
Social media is like a tsunami, destroying people’s lives.
It also ruins people’s minds with butcher knives.
Stuck in a constant bubble that you can’t escape,
Social media addicts you to try be a perfect model shape.
You check social media 300 times a day to try fit in,
But haven’t paid attention to your kin.
You are so busy checking your snaps,
That you didn’t realize the road gaps.
You are among thousands of others who went to the emergency room,
And didn’t attempt to, I’d like to assume,
But you were too busy on your phone,
To realize what a bad idea that was on your own.
Ooh, Kylie Jenner posted a new picture on Instagram.
Wow, I learned that she just ate bread and jam.
Now I’m going to eat bread and jam because she did,
And because she did, many other girls will too across the grid.
Everyone wants to be the same,
Because their role models on social media have fame.
You are lonely and want to hang out with someone because your phone died,
But your only so called friends are on social media, so you are denied.
You think it’s cool, you think it’s neat
To be the same as everyone else you meet.
Why fit in when you were born to stand out?
Now you might look at me and have some doubt,
But there is a really cool world outside social media,
And you won’t have to look that up in an Encyclopedia.

I realized that many of my peers and the world gets too caught up in social media to realize what really counts around them, so I would like that to change.
