We Won't Make It To Mars
And from that day on, the sun never set the same,
The sky never seemed blue,
And the constellations never seemed to line up.
I used to trace the freckles on your back with my fingertips
As if they were the galaxies,
And your body was the universe.
You were the universe.
Your laugh made the solar system move.
Your eyes followed mine like a telescope searching for stars.
Your smile spun me on an axis.
The way you played guitar caused the stars to burst in my heart,
And when you sang it was like a lunar landing.
NASA cannot prove to me that the goosebumps I get when you kissed me were not space rocks.
They couldn't tell me that the tears in my eyes when you said goodbye was not a spacecraft crashing.
I am just being pulled back in by the gravity of you.
