One for One
The tender heifer mourns.
Such kindred separation tears its heart,
For death has done these close-knit kin apart.
And though the men will toast to roasted flesh,
Their jugs will slosh to start the year afresh,
They do not know the pain they've brought that night,
To life they never knew could feel such fright,
And the tender heifer mourns.
