I'll tell you about a girl I once knew

She had a glorious laugh
One that would rival the envious Angels
She had an almost perfect smile
That convinced unconcerning people
she was as happy as the life found inside children

I once knew a girl who had the prettiest shades of nail polish
She would show up each Monday
wearing a bright pink or silver blue
But her soul was as dark as the lies she told
wearing that beautiful polish
This girl I once knew

I once knew this beautiful girl
who had tons of pretty friends with happy hearts
And she never told anyone
But she wished everyday for them to break
Like she had broken
In little pieces of heart and

She wished for them to hate
This girl I once knew
This magnificent girl who would light up a room without even trying
Because she didn’t
She didn't have anything left to try

And when she finally gave me the key to her heart
I unlocked it naturally.
And all I found was a broken nail polish stand and colorful nail polish in all different hues
covering a pitch black wall
And I realized I knew this girl more than I thought

I hope people will understand the fact that not all "happy" people are happy.
