I am

Run by my parents,
Controlled by my friends,
Responsible for myself,
And everybody else.
I am
On low battery mode,
Running on caffeine,
And the memory of the night I got sleep,
In 2013.
I am
A human database,
I can recall WWII trivia,
Or the whole unit circle,
That's what the school wants..
I am
My mother,
Our eyes are the same,
Repeating her behavior,
But not her mistakes.
I am
My father,
Don’t stop working,
Don’t stop worrying,
Untill everyone else is okay.
I am
Broken
Put back together,
Broken,
Broken.

I am
Untrusting,
Barely having faith in myself,
Trying not to get broken again,
Out of energy to heal again.
I am
Afraid to love,
“Fool me once shame on you,
Fool me twice,
Can’t put the blame on you”.
I am
Fighting to find myself,
Fighting to save myself,
Fighting to truly know
Who
I am.

This piece was inspired by a ton of overwhelming emotions I felt at the beginning of my senior year. Nothing seemed to be going the right way and I was being pulled in a million different directions. I needed to find my self in amidst everyone else's idea of who I am.
